Burke: And all the others like it, well, I can remember, on the other side of the pond over there, going alongthe mansions that were over there. And through all the years that the old lady had this woman taking care of her, the lilacs were always in bloomwhen they were in bloom, they were in the house. But I was glad that I got this. My father was in the political-end, and he was in Borough Hall and everything like that. Right. He was born in South Bend, Ind. It has to stay exactly as an old plantation house. And then the people that moved out left a bunch of old furniture, and these were the two that they left. But that was the cistern for doing all the laundry and everything in the basement. Thats ittheres no more of them. Q: Yes. The house is haunted, she said, if youre interested in it, George, heres the key to the front door, you go. And as I said, there was a big flight of stairs that went up and a big porch across the whole front of the house. But what was really, really bad was people, if they were going to build a garage, or they were going to build something, theyd go to that big, beautiful mansion and rip the siding off of it and take it back to build what they want to build. And is there a way where, according to how you would like the house to be maintainedwould everything stay in its place? Thats the usual setup, I think, for historic houses. And they were the big windows that lookedand that was a whole, bigjust like here, it was another story. And people were selling anything out of their house to support themselves and live. And then you could walk under the porch out into the garden. George K. I said, No, no, Im gonna save this house. He said, Oh! He was an antiquehe had a big rug business in. Q: Was that here in the house? So most of the stuff is Victorianturn of the century and Victorian. I spent enough time breaking my back. And my father died, and we were all very young. Lets keep fighting it, because there was no way to fight. And thats what I called out for was help. So I took that out of the brick and I got some cement, put it all back in, put the wall back up.
